This past summer Emilio and I had such an awesome opportunity to parter with HotelTonight for a trip of a lifetime. We were already in Paris when the opportunity came along so packed our bags and headed to the South of France – one of my favorite destinations in the world! If you guys don’t know about HotelTonight (HT), you need to know! They provide amazing last minute deals at some of the most top rated hotels around the world.

Emilio and I decided to break up our trip and create a storyline in which we would see the South of France one city at a time and make our way to Paris eventually by car. Being the spontaneous people we are, we browsed hotel options and with the help of HotelTonight, found one to book just hours before. As we hadn’t decided where in the south of France we would choose to settle into for a few days, HT became a great option. We’re frequent users of HT and love how flexible we can be with our travel itinerary and hotel plans.

We settled in Nice and quickly grew to love the city and of course, its beaches! We rented a scooter and travelled down across the coast. We popped in for moule frites (mussels and fries) and didn’t make it back home without some gelato. Speaking of gelato, one of THE BEST spots was in Antibes. A must have when going there, Gelateria Del Porto, is like nothing I’ve ever tasted before! We made our way down to Antibes for two reasons: 1) the gelato and 2) the gorgeous pastel colored streets that I wanted to shoot around. Actually, I highly recommend you stop reading this and book a trip to Antibes for gelato immediately. Just kidding! But in all honesty, I could go on and on about this tiny hole in the wall gelato spot that stole my heart (and my belly).

The great thing about the south of France is jumping on your scooter and getting from one beach town to the next in such little time. A 50CC scooter rental cost us roughly 40euro/day (plus a returned deposit). This turned out to be pretty amazing for unlimited transportation to any beach across the coast.

We decided to move hotels and settle in Cannes for a bit next. We took the 30-minute train ride (about 7euro) from Nice to Cannes and settled into one of our favorite hotels, the OKKO Hotel – booked through HotelTonight. Let me explain – this place has unlimited wine at all times and the cutest rooftop to sip it on. All Japanese inspired, the OKKO Hotel is beautifully designed and conveniently located right by the beach. Not only are the bed sheets a fluff of heaven to sleep on, but the hotel also offers a full complimentary breakfast in their grand and incredibly charming lounge area.

The streets of Cannes were filled with the smell of seafood and truffle. We found so many incredible food options. Between exploring beaches during the daytime and feasting at night, I’d say “c’est la vie,” describes it all too well. If you get a chance, go to Miramar Plage. This charming beach restaurant serves up some incredibly fresh oysters you can’t pass up.

The last stop on our south of France getaway was Saint-Tropez. We stayed at the adorable Lion Blanc Hotel, which is about a 10-minute walk to the center of Saint Tropez. Conveniently, a scooter rental shop was just below the hotel. We settled into the hotel, rented our new baby and rode off to a secluded beach just nearby. The ocean water is bluer than blue, warm and glistening. I just keep thinking to myself “Is this real life?” The Europeans have got it so good.

We can’t wait to get back to Europe and revisit these gems. Until next time!
